The Chittoor Zilla Parishad (ZP) standing committee sanctioned a budget allocation of ₹3,996 crore for the financial year 2025-26, with a focus on rural development, education, healthcare, and infrastructure enhancements. ZP chairman Govindappa Srinivas announced this during a meeting at the ZP conference hall here on Saturday, attended by key district officials and people’s representatives.
According to a press release, discussions were held regarding the expedited completion of engineering projects under the Panchayati Raj and Rural Water Supply (RWS) departments. Officials received directives to address the issues raised by legislators and to accelerate development initiatives accordingly.
The Chairman noted that ₹2,285 crore had been disbursed to 5,60,785 beneficiaries via the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) from April 2024 to February 2025. In the housing sector, a total of 90,081 houses have been completed out of the planned 1,54,300 under the Housing Department.
Under the ‘Dokka Seethamma Middaly Meal Scheme’, nutritious meals were provided to 2,85,900 students across 4,738 schools. In the healthcare sector, an allocation of ₹11.93 crore under the ‘NTR Medical Service’ benefited 23,524 patients, while 24,294 individuals received complimentary treatment for eye-related ailments.
Significant advancements were also reported in infrastructure development, with 3,312 kilometres of roads completed under the Panchayati Raj Department, alongside 23 projects executed under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana’.
To overcome water scarcity, a total of 5,289 projects have been sanctioned under the ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’ and other rural water initiatives. In the power sector, an electricity subsidy amounting to ₹5.70 crore has been provided to 1,07,792 Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) beneficiaries, ensuring a reliable power supply for agricultural services.
