The Maharashtra chief minister said Shiv Sainiks will visit 15 families every day to spread awareness about the government’s initiatives, targeting not only those who have benefited from the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana but also those yet to avail its benefits

The ‘Majhi Ladki Bahin Family Visit Campaign’, spearheaded by Eknath Shinde, is set to commence across the state on Tuesday, September 10, with the Maharashtra chief minister personally visiting 15 families to raise awareness about 10 major government schemes.

The campaign was announced during a press conference at Varsha on Monday. Shinde said Shiv Sainiks will visit 15 families every day to spread awareness about the government’s initiatives, targeting not only those who have benefited from the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana but also those yet to avail its benefits. A new app dedicated to the campaign will also be launched on Tuesday.

Ahead of the official start, Shinde held a virtual meeting with Shiv Sena ministers, MPs, MLAs, and grassroots activists to plan the state-wide rollout.

The 10 government schemes that will be the focus of the campaign are Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana, Lek Ladki Lakhpati Yojana, Mukhyamantri Yuva Karya Prashikshan Yojana, Annapurna Yojana, Free Higher Education Scheme for Girls, Mukhyamantri Vayoshri Yojana, Tirtha Darshan Yojana, Agriculture Pump Power Bill Waiver Yojana, Labour Welfare Yojana and various schemes for women’s self-help groups.

The objective is to ensure that all families are well-informed about these schemes and participate in them. The government also seeks to assist those who haven’t received benefits, and provide guidance on enrolling in other initiatives.

Focus on Women and Economic Growth

“This campaign is about giving, not taking from the people,” said Shinde. He also announced an extension for the registration of the Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana until September 30, 2024. So far, nearly two crore women have applied for the scheme, with 1.69 crore already receiving direct financial aid.

The chief minister emphasised the central role of women in the state’s economy, noting: “Women are the backbone of the economy, managing household finances and driving economic growth. The stronger Maharashtra’s economy becomes, the greater the benefit to the nation.”

He praised the state’s leadership in sectors such as industry, infrastructure, agriculture, and investment, adding that Maharashtra had regained momentum after a period of lagging behind under previous governments.

Welfare Commitment and Digital Support

Shinde highlighted that over five crore citizens have benefited from various government schemes, including the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana, with its coverage limit recently increased from Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 5 lakh.

Reaffirming the government’s dedication to uplifting farmers, labourers, women, youth, workers, and senior citizens, he reiterated the administration’s commitment to inclusive development.

Shinde, while reflecting on Shiv Sena’s philosophy, said: “Our guiding principle, taught by the Hindu heart emperor Balasaheb Thackeray, is that 80 per cent of our work should be for social causes and 20 per cent for politics. Every Shiv Sena member follows this principle.”
