MUZAFFARNAGAR: The body of a 13-year-old girl, missing since December 20, was found in the Yamuna river under Mathura district’s Sadar police station area on Tuesday morning, reports Mohammad Dilshad.
After getting information, police reached the spot and sent the body for postmortem examination.
The family of the dead girl has told police she was being stalked by a local youth.Her father said, “My daughter was being stalked by a youth for the past four months. We informed the police immediately after she went missing. This man had been troubling my daughter. I confronted him once, but it didn’t deter him. After her disappearance, we tirelessly searched for her, only to discover her body in the Yamuna river on Tuesday morning.”
SHO Sanjeev Dubey of Jamunapar police station said, “The girl was reported missing on December 22. We then constituted a team and initiated an extensive search to find her. During this period, the youth in question was detained and questioned, but no information regarding the girl’s whereabouts was obtained.”
“We scanned CCTV footage in which the girl was seen walking alone. We are now waiting for the postmortem report,” he added.
