NOIDA: Around 1,000 residents of Sector 112 have complained that there aren’t any local markets, banks or ATMs in the area. Besides this, residents say voltage fluctuations are frequent and cause damage to electrical equipment. The sector has a lot of street dogs and monkeys, and unkempt parks with broken drain covers, grilles and garbage dumps.
“Allotment of plots in our sector was done in 2011.Even after 13 years, we are facing several problems. There are no local markets in our sector. There are no banks or ATMs. To cater to all these necessities, residents have to travel around 3 kilometres,” said Devdutt Sharma, RWA general secretary of Sector 112.
Sharma added that the sector lacks public transport facilities as well. As a result, residents have to commute by private vehicles.
“The parks are poorly maintained. The grille of their boundary wall is broken, grass is drying, and construction and demolition (C&D) waste is littered all around. Besides, stray dogs are rising in numbers. Also, two monkeys have been roaming in the sector for the last several days and are causing major damage to houses. They have also attacked some residents of the sector,” said Sharma, adding that over 200 families are living in the sector and 50 plots that are under construction will be occupied soon.
Laxman Pandey, a resident of the sector, claimed that it is very difficult to get groceries and other necessities that are required regularly because the nearest market is around 3 km from the sector.
“Sometimes you need emergency groceries. But we have to travel a significant distance to fetch those things,” said Pandey. Mohit Sharma another resident of Sectot 112 said that ATMs and banks are necessities for any residential area. “At least basic such facilities should be provided,” said Sharma.
A response from the Noida Authority is awaited.
