19 Telangana dists record maximum temperatures above 40°C; IMD issues thunderstorm alert for April 8

Telangana continues to reel under rising temperatures, with 19 out of the State’s 33 districts recording maximum temperatures above 40°C on Sunday (April 6, 2025). According to the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS), Mancherial district was the hottest in the State, registering a maximum temperature of 40.7°C.

Closely following were Nirmal (40.6°C), Kumaram Bheem Asifabad (40.5°C), and Adilabad (40.4°C). Nalgonda reported 40.3°C, while nine districts clocked 40.2°C and five others recorded 40.1°C. An additional five districts touched 40°C. In comparison, Hyderabad and Medchal Malkajgiri districts recorded slightly lower, but still high, temperatures of 39.6°C.

Thunderstorm alert

In a contrasting development, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a thunderstorm warning for Tuesday (April 8, 2025) across nine districts. The weather alert mentions the likelihood of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds in isolated parts of Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, and Hanamkonda districts.

Forecast for Hyderabad

For Hyderabad, the forecast over the next 48 hours indicates generally cloudy skies, with hazy conditions expected during the morning hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 36°C and 23°C respectively.
