RAIPUR: Two crane operators died after a crane collapsed, throwing them into a vat of molten metal at a factory in Raipur’s Siltara industrial area Saturday night.
Sonu Rai (29) from Bihar and Jitendra Shrivas (36) from Chhattisgarh were on the night shift at the firm’s factory, which manufactures iron plates, angles, and blades, when the accident occurred. Alerted by the factory management, police arrived at the plant and retrieved the bodies from under the crane debris. The firm has provided compensation of Rs 22 lakh each to the victims’ families.
