NEW DELHI: At least 27 people were killed in a stampede during a ‘Satsang‘ (religious gathering) in Uttar Pradesh‘s Hathras on Tuesday.
Chief medical officer (CMO) Etah, Umesh Kumar Tripathi said 27 bodies were brought at the post-mortem house, comprising 25 women and 2 men, while many injured people have been admitted to local hospitals for treatment.
“The primary reason is a stampede during a religious event.Further details will be revealed after the investigation,” CMO Tripathi said.

A team consisting of ADG Agra and Aligarh Commissioner has been constituted to enquire into the cause of the incident, an official source said.
Local officials and emergency responders are on the scene, and a thorough investigation is underway to determine the circumstances leading to the tragic event.
