Prime Minister Modi also said that stone pelting has stopped and terrorism is being dealt with harshly.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his speech in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday reminded the opposition benches that it was the Bharatiya Janata Party-led (BJP) government that ended the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and made sure that the whole state trusted the Indian tricolour and the Constitution.

He also said that after the abrogation of Article 370 stone-pelting has stopped. “It was the era of 370 when stone pelting used to happen. Today the wall of 370 has come down. Stone pelting has stopped and the whole state has trust in India’s flag and Constitution,” PM Modi said, amid opposition sloganeering.

The Prime Minister while replying to the Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address also highlighted that his government has always been tough on terror and India now conducts ‘surgical strikes’ to eliminate elements that poses a threat to national security.

“There was a time before 2014 when terrorists could come and attack wherever they wanted. Innocent people were killed, every corner of India was targeted and the governments used to sit quietly. 2014 ke baad ka Hindustan ghar mein ghus kar maarta hain,” PM Modi said.

As soon as PM Modi began his speech in the Lok Sabha, the Opposition, having regained strength following the recently-concluded elections, erupted with chants of “Manipur, Manipur” and “Tanashahi nahi chalegi (We won’t allow dictatorship),” accompanied by loud table thumping.

Prime Minister Modi stated that his government follows the principle of “Justice to All, Appeasement to None”.

He emphasised, “Appeasement has destroyed this country. Therefore, we adhere to justice for everyone without favouritism”.

Modi highlighted that the people of India have elected them based on their performance over the past decade.

“After evaluating our track record for the last 10 years, the people of India have entrusted us with the responsibility to serve 140 crore citizens,” he said.
