Commissioner of Police Shankhabrata Bagchi, along with principal Chekuri Varalakshmi and governing body members, lighting a lamp on the occasion of the 39th annual day of Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar in the school premises on Saturday.

The 39th annual day of Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar was celebrated grandly in the school premises on Saturday.

The celebrations started with the lighting of lamp by Commissioner of Police Shankhabrata Bagchi, along with the principal Chekuri Varalakshmi and governing body members. The annual school report was presented by the principal and the convenor’s report by the governing body member Sreedevi Nagabhushan on behalf of school convenor S.G. Chalam.

An in-house magazine ‘School Flash’, consisting of various activities and achievements of the school students, was released on the occasion by Mr. Bagchi. Later, Mr. Bagchi gave away gold medals to students who excelled in academics, scholarships, sports and extracurricular activities.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Bagchi appreciated the school management for imparting human values-based education and described it as the need of the hour. He complimented the students for rendering service to the needy apart from excelling in academics.

Mr. Bagchi called for united efforts to make Visakhapatnam a drug-free city. He said students of Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar stand as a role model for others. He said that the divine preachings of Sri Sathya Sai Baba are essential for the mankind.

The Police Commissioner told the students, parents and citizens to be cautious of online abuse and harassment, online crime, ganja menace, cyber crime. Later, the audience were entertained with cultural programmes
