KOTA: In a tragic incident, six individuals from Madhya Pradesh lost their lives on the spot, while three others sustained injuries when a speeding truck, purportedly loaded with Bajri, hit the ECO van with its back on NH-52 near the Bundi Tunnel under the jurisdiction of Hindoli police station in Bundi district, Rajasthan.
The unfortunate mishap transpired at around 4:30-5:00 am on Sunday morning when the nine occupants of the Eco van, all aged between 16 and 40 years and hailing from Devas district in Madhya Pradesh, were en route to Khatu Shyamji for a pilgrimage.
The deceased were identified as Madan Nayak, son of Shankar; Mangilal Nayak, son of Omkar; Mahesh Nayak, son of Bhadshah; Rajesh; and Punam, all residents of Bedakhal police station, Satwas, Dewash district in Madhya Pradesh.
One victim remained unidentified. The injured individuals were recognized as Manoj Nayak (25), son of Ravi; Aniket Nayak (16); and Pradeep Nayak (40), son of Mangilal, also from Dewas district in Madhya Pradesh.
Pradeep, who sustained critical injuries, was immediately referred to MBS hospital in Kota, while the other two are currently receiving treatment at Bundi district hospital.
The six deceased were placed in the mortuary, awaiting post-mortem examination, which will be conducted shortly after the arrival of their family members.
Circle Inspector Pavan Meena of Hindoli police station told TOI , the truck allegedly veered onto the wrong side of the road and struck the oncoming van with its rear end. The truck is yet to be traced and intercepted by the authorities, he added.
The incident has left the families of the victims in a state of shock and despair, as they grapple with the untimely loss of their loved ones.
