HYDERABAD: BRS MLA B Krishna Mohan Reddy joined Congress in the presence of Telangana CM A Revanth Reddy at his residence-cum-camp office Saturday, days after six BRS MLCs switched loyalties, reports Roushan Ali.
Krishna Mohan, a two-term MLA for Gadwal assembly constituency in CM Revanth’s home district of Mahabubnagar, is the seventh BRS legislator to join Congress since it took office in the state in Dec last year.
Speculation suggested that six more BRS legislators, mostly from constituencies in Greater Hyderabad, are believed to be in touch with Congress brass. These MLAs might join Congress before the budget session of the assembly.
Sources said a couple of MLAs from Adilabad are among the six wannabe defectors. However, none of the BRS legislators from Greater Hyderabad have publicly stated their intention to leave the KCR-led party. They face resistance from local Congress functionaries, who are protesting their entry into the party. Congress members staged protests at Gandhi Bhavan and in Gadwal, opposing Krishna Mohan’s entry into the party.
