BHOPAL/INDORE: A 15-year-old boy was swept away in a flooded nullah in Sukhi Sewania as 115mm rain swamped Bhopal on Friday.
The wettest spell of the season started around 11pm on Thursday and looks set to continue till Saturday when there’s a warning for very heavy showers and lightning in most parts of the state, including the state capital.
A late evening order from the Bhopal district administration triggered confusion on whether schools would be shut on Saturday but district education officer NK Ahirwar clarified that only schools in affected areas would be closed.
All 13 gates of Kaliasot dam and seven gates of Bhadbhada were opened, as Upper Lake brimmed at full tank level.
In Umaria, a 17-year-old drowned in a swollen river and in Raisen district, a youth was swept away while crossing a flooded bridge on Richhan river.
