From Bollywood Exile to Calabasas: Kangana Ranaut Talks About Her Career Struggles and Work Drought

Kangana Ranaut recently opened up about feeling exiled from Bollywood after enduring an eight-year work drought. The BJP MP reminisced about the period when she faced almost a decade without significant roles, despite her early success. Kangana’s initial taste of fame came from her acclaimed performances in Gangster and Woh Lamhe. In a recent interview, she reflected on her decision to relocate to the U.S., revealing that she was frequently told her acting was “too good,” which ironically worked against her in the industry. This belief, she felt, led to her being marginalized and feeling exiled from her own country. During this challenging time, Kangana bought a house in Calabasas, hired an agent, and even directed a short film, feeling that the system forced those who were too talented to leave. She also questioned the hostility towards her perspectives and addressed the criticism she has faced. Kangana’s next film, Emergency, is scheduled for release on September 6.
