Meanwhile, Tunisia experienced a surprising 1-0 home defeat to Comoros. Despite 15 goal attempts, Rafiki Said scored the only goal just over an hour into the match.This marked Tunisia’s first home loss in Cup of Nations qualifiers since 2010, but they remain at the top of Group A with six points from three games, with Comoros trailing by one point.
The top two teams in each group advance to the 24-team finals in Morocco.
In another match, Nigeria defeated Libya 1-0 with a late goal by Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, keeping Nigeria at the top of Group D. Ivory Coast dominated Sierra Leone with a 4-1 win, featuring a brace from Franck Kessie. Senegal also secured a 4-0 win over Malawi, with goals from Sadio Mane and Nicolas Jackson.
Cameroon achieved a 4-1 victory over Kenya. Bryan Mbeumo, Vincent Aboubakar, Martin Hongla, and Christian Bassogog all scored. South Africa handed Congo a 5-0 defeat, matching the second biggest win in their history. Uganda topped their group with a 1-0 win over South Sudan, thanks to Bevis Mugabi’s goal.
Other teams like Equatorial Guinea, Benin, Angola, and Mali also achieved victories. Zambia, however, settled for a 0-0 draw at home against Chad, leaving them in second place in their group.
