NEW DELHI: Two students who went missing while bathing in the Mahanadi river in Odisha‘s Sambalpur district were found dead on Saturday, police reported.
The Odisha Disaster Response Force and Fire Services team recovered their bodies on Saturday morning, according to a senior officer.
The students, identified as Kanisk Kanit and Himanshu Singh, both in Class 9 and residents of Tiwari Gali area, disappeared on Friday while bathing near Dhobapada Ghat within Khetrajpur Police Station limits.
“A search operation was launched to rescue them on Friday but could not be continued due to darkness. The bodies of the two students were fished out from the river on Saturday morning. The bodies were handed over to the family members after post-mortem examinations,” the officer explained.
