NEW DELHI: BJP on Tuesday hit back at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his statement regarding the Ram Mandir Pran Pratistha program, saying that the people of India are very intelligent and they understand the politics of Gandhi and that the party leaves it to people of the country to decide their answer.
“Rahul Gandhi lives in this ‘la-la’ world, in my opinion. He tried so in 2014 and 2019 and is trying again. The people of India are wise enough. They understand the truth and what his politics is about,” said Union minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar at a press conference.
Chandrashekhar said that Rahul Gandhi would like people to believe that the faith of Hindus can be manipulated but no one wants him to interpret how they should practice their beliefs.
“Ram temple is a deeply felt emotion by Hindus in every corner of the country, “the minister said after Gandhi accused BJP of turning the January 22 consecration ceremony at Ayodhya into a party event.
Union minister and senior BJP leader Anurag Thakur said the opposition parties should stop commenting on the consecration ceremony of Ram temple in Ayodhya as it has been built after a long wait of 500 years.
Thakur took part in cleaning the Hanuman mandir premises at Connaught Place on Tuesday, under a campaign to clean local temples launched by BJP ahead of the ceremony in Ayodhya on January 22.
“Some people are still not happy with the construction of the temple,” Thakur told reporters when asked about the opposition parties’ charge that BJP and RSS have turned the “pran pratishtha” ritual into a political event.
There are some who are pained at the construction of the temple, there are some who are pained by the “pran pratishtha” ceremony and then there are some who have to give statements on it for the sake of their politics, the Union minister said.
“Congress forced us to keep Lord Ram in a tent for years. These are the same people who described Lord Ram and Ram Setu as fictional. Then they promised to rebuild Babri mosque,” he said.
