NEW DELHI: The Mumbai Police on Tuesday received another threat targeting Bollywood actor Salman Khan, allegedly from someone claiming to be associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
The caller identified himself as the sibling of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.
“If Salman Khan wants to stay alive, he should go to our (Bishnoi community) temple and apologise or pay Rs 5 crore. If he does not do so, we will kill him; our gang is still active,” stated the threatening message.
The police are conducting investigations to establish whether the threat has connections to Lawrence Bishnoi, who is currently imprisoned for various offences, including attempted murder and extortion.
“In the case of a threat to Actor Salman Khan, the process of registering the case is underway at Worli Police Station. The number from which the message came is being traced,” news agency ANI quoted Mumbai Police as saying.
The incident follows the recent arrest of Azam Mohammad Mustafa, aged 56, from Bandra, who was apprehended for sending a threatening message to Khan. The Worli police registered a case after receiving an anonymous threat demanding Rs 2 crore, with warnings of endangering the actor’s life. The threat was initially received through the traffic police’s helpline.
Earlier, authorities had taken a 24-year-old individual into custody regarding a separate threat case.
Salman has previously faced numerous death threats from Lawrence Bishnoi gang associates, who fired shots at his Bandra residence in April. Despite increased security measures, the situation intensified when his close associate, Baba Siddique, was fatally shot, allegedly by Bishnoi associates on October 12.
