PUDUCHERRY: A seven-member team deputed by the Union govt will visit Puducherry and Karaikal on Sunday and Monday to assess the damage caused by Cyclone Fengal.
The team will visit Puducherry town and suburbs to assess the damage caused by the cyclone to crops and infrastructural facilities like power supply and connection, roads and bridges. The team will also visit Karaikal.
The administration has declared Puducherry, Karaikal and Yanam regions as affected by natural calamities. The govt urged the Union govt to provide financial aid of Rs 600 crore to undertake cyclone relief and rehabilitation activities.
