NEW DELHI: Former Indian cricketer and chief selector Chetan Sharma has expressed support for Virat Kohli amid his current form challenges, predicting that Kohli will conclude the series against Australia with a total of three centuries.
The final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is set to commence in Melbourne on December 26.
Despite scoring a century in the first Test at Perth, Kohli has since struggled, accumulating only 26 runs in four innings. His performance throughout the year across all formats has not met expectations.
In an interview with ANI, Sharma referred to Kohli’s recent difficulties as a temporary setback, emphasizing the batter’s significant contributions and expressing confidence in his forthcoming performances.
“He is a player who has achieved so much for us, which raises our expectations. I am confident he will perform well. Let’s hope he scores two more centuries in the next two matches. I had predicted before the series that he would score three centuries in Australia,” he said.
