With the offseason coming to an end, there has been a lot of buzz around AL MVP speculations. Corey Seager and Jacob deGrom are two fan favorites in the MVP race. Both the Texas Rangers superstars are coming off from major injuries. However, when it comes to – who will win the AL MVP award? – a famous MLB analyst feels that deGrom has a better chance than Seager.

MLB analyst claimed Jacob deGrom beat Corey Seager in MVP race
Jacob deGrom and Corey Seager, both of them are star players of the Texas Rangers, with impressive stats. However, according to MLB analyst Mike Bacsik, deGrom has a better chance of beating the Seager in the MVP race. During his recent appearance at K&C Masterpiece, Bacsik shared his take on the same and said:
“I lean more towards Jacob deGrom. Which is scary, I get the injury history and how they’re going to possibly protect his arm, which could be tough to rack up all of the numbers you need for a Cy Young. Let’s look at the competition … do you see that competition?”
“If he can stay pretty much healthy, people will be so excited around baseball… like is this awesome that Jacob deGrom is healthy and doing great? He has that going for him. When I look at Corey Seager for MVP, I know Aaron Judge. He’s always going to be tough to beat. After him, Bobby Witt, that’s going to be tough,” Bacsik further added.
Moving forward in the podcast episode, Mike Bacsik expressed how the MVP competition is going to be tough this season. Bacsik had so much belief in Seager that the analyst claimed that he would have won the MVP last season if it wasn’t for the injury. Talking about the same, the MLB analyst said:
“Gunnar Henderson’s still around. I do think the competition for MVP is tougher to beat those those guys than it will be for Jacob deGrom to beat the guys in front of him. I do think Corey Seager would have won MVP if he didn’t get hurt so much.”
Corey Seager is a two-time World Series champion and has won the World Series MVP both these times in 2020 and 2023. While Seager has a great chance to win the MVP, Jacob deGrom could win the Cy Young award if he remains injury-free throughout the 2025 season.
Corey Seager was drafted in the MLB in 2015 with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Seager stayed with the Dodgers till 2021 before getting signed by Texas Rangers in 2022.
