Telangana Minister for Health C. Damodar Raja Narasimha made a surprise visit to Gandhi Hospital, Secunderabad on Tuesday (March 4, 2025) uncovering lapses in attendance among the hospital staff. The minister, upon reaching the outpatient ward, found that duty doctors were absent without prior notice, prompting immediate action against them.

Minister directs officials to issue show-cause notices

The minister examined the doctors’ attendance sheets and expressed dissatisfaction over the unavailability of professors and associate professors who were expected to be present in the outpatient (OP) department. He instructed higher officials to take stringent action against those neglecting their responsibilities and ordered the hospital Superintendent and Director of Medical Education (DME) to issue show-cause notices to the absentees, demanding an explanation.

Delay in providing IVF services

During his inspection, the minister reviewed various hospital facilities, including the inpatient and outpatient wards, Maternal and Child Health (MCH) ward, In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) unit, diagnostic services, and scanning wards. He voiced concern over the delay in providing IVF services and directed the DME to initiate disciplinary proceedings against the doctors responsible for the inefficiency.
