Lucknow Super Giants pacer Shardul Thakur conceded five wides in a row against Kolkata Knight Riders in an IPL 2025 match at the Eden Gardens on Tuesday.
The sequence of wides happened in the 13th over of the second innings of the game, while Shardul was attempting to keep the ball away from KKR skipper Ajinkya Rahane’s arc.
The final wide was close to Rahane’s reach. But, Shardul’s request for a review was turned down by LSG skipper Rishabh Pant.
Shardul, playing his 100th IPL game, though stuck to his plan of bowling wide off the stumps and was eventually had Rahane caught at covers.
Shardul’s over lasted 11 balls, the joint longest in IPL history, along with Mohammed Siraj (vs MI, Bengaluru, 2023) and Tushar Deshpande (vs LSG, Chennai, 2023)
