Microsoft has been working to make the app store app — Microsoft Store — the main source of apps on Windows and in that pursuit, the company redesigned the entire user interface, announced new policies to attract developers and even curated apps and software from major publishers to offer almost everything under one roof.
In the latest attempt to offer a much more refined experience to Windows PC users, Microsoft has added a new feature that aims to make users’ lives easier, especially when trying to download new games from the Microsoft Store.
Microsoft Store gets Instant Games feature
Similar to Play Instant apps, which allow users to play a demo version of the game or an app to try it before downloading, the Instant Games feature on Microsoft Store allows users to play games without downloading. However, there’s a small difference between the two features.
While the Play Store allows users to try out a game without downloading, Microsoft lets users play the complete game without downloading it. Also, the games here listed are only casual games.
The new Instant Games section is placed within the Collection section in the Microsoft Store. The dedicated section isn’t titled the Instant Games which Microsoft is calling it, however, the section does list games that currently support this feature.
Rollout details
Microsoft Store’s latest version 22312.1401.4.0 has this feature and the update is rolling out to users.
