Actor-producer Aamir Khan made a passionate statement in support of the theatrical experience, announcing that his upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par will release exclusively in theatres.

Speaking during a panel discussion at Bollywood Hungama Style Icon Awards 2025, Aamir Khan revealed that despite receiving several lucrative offers to release the film on digital platforms, he firmly declined. “There were various proposals offered to me for taking the film to OTT next week. But I’m a theatre loyalist. Wherever I am today is because of cinema halls, and I can’t turn my back on them. I’m not a practical person, I’m an emotional one. So, I’ve decided this film will be only in theatres.”
Aamir expressed concern about the declining theatrical business in India and reflected on the challenges facing the industry. “In a country like ours, where cricket and movies are considered religion, it’s heart-breaking to see the consistent dip in box office numbers,” he noted.
While some blame the quality of Hindi films, Aamir believes it’s not about a lack of good content. “There are always good and bad films. That’s part of the creative process. But the decision to shorten the theatrical window, especially during COVID, has hurt the industry,” he emphasized.
Expressing complete faith in his audience, he said, “I have full loyalty for theatres. I have full confidence in theatres, and I have full trust and confidence in my audience. I trust my audience. If the film is good, if people like this, then it will do well in theatres. So, I trust my audience, that there are an audience which will like to see good content, and that’s my belief. So, I’m very clear that theatre is my place and that’s where I’m going to be.”
