AARYA SEASON 3 – ANTIM VAAR is the story of a mother. Aarya Sareen (Sushmita Sen) is in a tough spot. While Suraj Raizada (Indraneil Sengupta) is dead, the drug consignment is in the custody of the police. The cover of Inspector Sushila (Geetanjali Kulkarni) is up. The Russians are desperate for their money and are making Aarya’s life hell and so is the vicious Nalini (Ila Arun). Aarya’s aide, Sampat (Vishwajeet Pradhan) is trustworthy but has a mind of his own. And of course, there’s ACP Khan (Vikas Kumar), who is desperate for that one clue or evidence that can help him put Aarya behind bars. Even at home, Aarya is facing difficulties. Her eldest son Veer (Viren Vazirani) is devastated after the death of Roop (Shweta Pasricha) and has turned alcoholic. Her younger son Aditya (Pratyaksh Panwar) attacked a classmate violently. Hence, a welfare officer is assigned to ascertain if the home environment is conducive or whether he needs to be shifted to a welfare home. Arundhati aka Aaru (Virti Vaghani) is in love with Dhruv, a mole of the police. Aarya decides to talk to the Russians and form a plan to get back the drugs from the clutches of the police. Sadly, all the other issues of her life create obstacles in her endeavour, leading to disastrous consequences. What happens next forms the rest of the series.

Web Series Review: Aarya Season 3 – Antim Vaar

Khushboo Raj and Amit Raj’s story is gripping. Khushboo Raj and Amit Raj’s screenplay is fast-paced and packs in a lot. There’s never a dull or boring moment in the show. Khushboo Raj and Amit Raj’s dialogues are powerful and add to the impact.

Kapil Sharma, Shraddha Pasi Jairath and Ram Madhvani’s direction is marvellous. It’s a trend to break seasons into 2 and have a couple of months of gap between them. In several cases, this strategy hasn’t worked. But in the case of the third season of AARYA, it succeeds as there’s too much tension in every episode and a lot happening. Thankfully, the 2-3-minute-long recap at the beginning of the fifth episode provides all the highlights required to refresh one’s memory about the happenings of the first four episodes. One can feel the pain of Aarya as she gets cornered from all sides and yet, tries her best to emerge triumphant. A few scenes that stand out are the madness at Fort Grounds, the chaos at the incarcerator and the drama that ensues when the child welfare officer meets the Sareens. The climax is too good and if it was a movie, it would have elicited applause and whistles.

On the flipside, the Russian-Nigerian angle was not properly explained. One doesn’t understand how suddenly the Nigerian man came into the picture and what was the idea of hitting back at the Russians since the latter was quite powerful. The track of Maya (Maya Sarao) gets a raw deal. Daulat’s love interest track seemed forced and unconvincing. Lastly, Nalini’s son Abhimanyu is shown to be impulsive needlessly.

Sushmita Sen is very impressive. She gives Aarya grace and the bravado in ample doses, and it makes the show further likeable. The audience will surely hope for many more seasons of AARYA just so that they get to see Sushmita in this badass avatar many more times. Sikandar Kher didn’t have much to do in the first episodes. Here, he plays a crucial part thankfully and is terrific, as expected. Vishwajeet Pradhan leaves a huge mark. Vikas Kumar gives a fine performance. Ila Arun is decent although she’s let down slightly by her character. Viren Vazirani is natural as a depressed, alcoholic man. Pratyaksh Panwar does well, especially in the child welfare officer scene. Virti Vaghani lends able support. The actor playing Dhruv has an important part and is fair. Geetanjali Kulkarni and Saroj Oswal are good while Mikhil and Udo are okay.

Vishal Khurana’s background score adds to the nail-biting quotient. Kavya Sharma’s cinematography is neat. Anna Ipe’s production design is appealing and royal. Theia Tekchandaney’s costumes are pleasing, especially the ones worn by Sushmita. Manohar Verma’s action is not too gory. Khushboo Raj and Abhimanyu Chaudhary’s editing is sharp.

On the whole, AARYA SEASON 3 – ANTIM VAAR gives a nail-biting and thrilling experience to the viewers.
