NASHIK: The Ahmednagar police arrested two persons and recovered three stolen bikes from them.
The suspects are identified as Amit Nagre (26) and Nazin Shaikh (22), both from Newasa taluka.
A few weeks ago, Kunal Suresh Gupta (33) of Kranti Chowk registered a complaint at the Rahuri police station regarding the theft of his motorcycle, valued at Rs 1,25,000, which was parked in front of his house by unknown thieves.
Due to the increase in motorcycle thefts in the Ahmednagar district, Rakesh Ola, the Superintendent of Police in Ahmednagar, instructed PI Dinesh Aher of the Local Crime Branch to address the rising cases of vehicle theft.
PI Aher assembled a team and gathered information about criminals on record who stole motorcycles. During their investigation the team formed by PI Aher, learned that one person identified as Amit Nagare from Nevasa, along with his accomplice, had stolen a bike and gone to Pandharipul to sell the stolen motorcycle.
After receiving reliable information, the team immediately went to Pandharipul and arrested him along with one more person. They identified themselves as Amit Nagre (26) and Nazin Aziz Shaikh (22), both from Nevasa.
Upon further questioning, the arrested accused revealed that they had stolen three bikes worth Rs 4.5 lakh. Amit Nagre, is a notorious criminal with a total of seven cases registered against him in the Ahmednagar district for robbery preparation, theft, etc.
