BHOPAL: Bhopal police Wednesday announced Rs 3,000 each for information leading to the arrest of former Rajiv Gandhi Proudhyogiki Vishwavidyalaya VC Prof Sunil Kumar Gupta, ex-registrar Rakesh Kumar Rajput and retired finance controller Hrishikesh Verma for fraud.
The trio is accused of transferring nearly Rs 19.48 crore from the state’s umbrella tech varsity’s account to a private account.The accused used fake documents to siphon off funds, police said. The cheques and note sheets related to the transfers were signed by then registrar Rajput, finance controller Verma and VC Prof Kumar, police said.
Cops searched their homes but could not find them, following the reward was announced for their arrest. Police have started the process to issue a lookout notice. A local court rejected Gupta’s petition for anticipatory bail Wednesday.
