After mobile phones and semiconductors, BJP has now set its sights on seeking to develop India as a manufacturing base for passenger aircraft, promising to revamp legislation and reduce compliance burden for small businesses and traders, including those related to GST.
The overarching macro focus is to ensure that the policies are centred around maintaining low inflation, high growth and fiscal prudence with the tag of the world’s third largest economy in sight, if the party is voted to office for the third consecutive term. The BJP-led govt at the Centre, which has often been under attack on the data front, is seeking to address the concern by “further” strengthening the capacity of statistical bodies so that there is an impetus to data-driven policy making.
“We will bring a commercial aircraft manufacturing ecosystem to Bharat. For this we will design a policy for aerospace manufacturing in the country and try to develop our own passenger aircraft,” it said. At the same time, BJP wants to push for a three-fold jump in electronics manufacturing, a move that is also meant to lower imports and integrate India into the global value chain.
