NEW DELHI: Supreme Court has agreed to hear a PIL seeking its direction on implementing indigenous developed train protection systemKavach‘ and asked the Centre to brief it on steps taken or proposed for putting in place such anti-collision systems to prevent accidents, reports Amit Anand Choudhary.
The apex court was initially reluctant in entertaining the PIL and sought to know from the petitioner if he had some study on what would be the financial implication if the ‘Kavach’ system is introduced on a pan-India basis.
It, however, agreed to entertain the petition filed by a SC advocate after he contended it was meant to ensure safety of passengers and that accidents can be controlled by implementing the technology on the lines of systems used in other countries.
