Kalki 2898 AD has reached a significant milestone at the global box office. The sci-fi film directed by Nag Ashwin, is all set to cross the $100 million milestone at the global box office, a feat only few movies can boast of.
According to Deadline, the film has clocked in an estimated $95 million worldwide after completing its second weekend in theatres.Riding on good reviews and great word of mouth, the film also managed to earn an estimated $16.5 million from North American markets. This impressive total already makes it the tenth highest-grossing Indian movie of all time.

The film is now on track to surpass the $100 million mark globally, thus becoming only the 10th Indian movie to cross this milestone. Projections suggest that Kalki 2898 AD will reach a total of $110 million by the end of its theatrical run.

Kalki 2898 AD is notable for being the most expensive Indian production in history, with a reported budget of roughly $72 million. The film’s appeal at the box office, has turned the focus to the growing global appeal of Indian cinema. Of the current top ten highest-grossing Indian movies of all time, six were released between 2022 and 2024.
If Kalki 2898 AD reaches the predicted $110 million, it will surpass the Ranbir Kapoor starrer ‘Animal’ to become the eighth highest-grossing Indian movie of all time, with a total gross of Rs 918.25 crore.

However, box office predictions indicate that the film will unlikely outperform recent blockbusters such as Shah Rukh Khan‘s Jawan and Pathaan. It may also run out of steam before it matches the collections earned by the SS Rajamouli directorials RRR (Rs 1,387 crore) and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (Rs 1,810.595 crore).
Despite its impressive performance, the report suggests that Kalki 2898 AD may struggle to make a substantial profit due to its budget. If it fails to surpass $110 million in theatres, it is rumoured to likely impact the future of the Kalki Cinematic Universe, which includes a partially shot upcoming sequel. However, the film’s record-breaking run may continue to gain momentum through its release on streaming platforms.
