AGRA: Four police officers from Agra were suspended for allegedly attempting to grab land worth over Rs 20 crore in connivance with a businessman and land mafia, and later filing fake FIRs that led to the imprisonment of four members of a family.
A senior police officer, privy to the probe details, said on Saturday that two fake FIRs were registered by the cops under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and Excise Act in August and October last year, and “caretakers of the land were incarcerated”.He added that a subsequent complaint to the office of the chief minister triggered an investigation resulting in their suspension for “fabricating the FIRs”. Agra DCP Suraj Kumar Rai said, “Among those suspended on Friday were former Jagdishpura SHO Jitendra Kumar (now posted as SHO of MM Gate), head constables Upendra Mishra and Shivraj Singh, and constable Ravi Kant.”
