Amid the announcement of the AAP to name Rajya Sabha member Sanjeev Arora as its candidate for the Ludhiana West Assembly bypoll, in Punjab, speculations took speed that AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal is planning to go to Rajya Sabha.

However, a senior party leader denied the claim while speaking with The Hindu. “Currently there are no plans for Arvind ji going to the Rajya Sabha. He built the organisation from scratch without being an MP or MLA and he doesn’t need such a position to run the party now also,” the senior leader added.
All AAP members in Rajya Sabha, either from Delhi or Punjab, have their terms ending either in 2028 or 2030. A Rajya Sabha bypoll from Delhi would be advantageous to BJP since they have the majority in the Assembly.
Speaking to ANI, AAP spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar said, “Arvind Kejriwal is not going to Rajya Sabha. As far as Arvind Kejriwal is concerned, media sources were earlier saying that he will become the Chief Minister of Punjab. Now, media sources are saying that he will contest from Rajya Sabha. Both these sources are absolutely wrong.”
