The Crime Investigation Department (CID) police could not take the former Director-General (Intelligence), P.S.R. Anjaneyulu, into their custody on Sunday (April 27, 2025) as he was not doing well.

Mr. Anjaneyulu, currently serving his 14-day judicial remand in the case pertaining to the alleged illegal arrest and harassment of actor Kadambari Jethwani, was given three-day custody of the police from April 27 to 29.

On Sunday (April 27, 2025), the Vijayawada jail authorities reportedly said the IPS officer was suffering from high blood pressure. When the CID police shifted him to the Government General Hospital, the doctors, after examining the accused, said “he is not fit for interrogation.”

With the doctors advising the CID personnel not to question the accused, he could not be interrogated on Day One. Later, the police shifted him back to the jail.

The CID police had arrested Mr. Anjaneyulu in the case a few days ago.

It was alleged that the suspended IPS officer was the key conspirator in filing a false case against Ms. Jethwani and her family members in February 2024. The Ibrahimpatnam police had arrested the actor and her parents in Mumbai, and were jailed for 42 days.

Following a complaint lodged by Ms. Jethwani, the Ibrahimpatnam police registered a case against YSRCP leader Kukkala Vidyasagar and five police officers, including Mr. Anjaneyulu, in September 2024.
