Rugmini Amma, who had been bedridden for over two years, was a steadfast companion to Leela following the tragic deaths within their family.
Leela’s husband, Chandran, passed away a decade ago, leaving her to cope with the loss of their two sons. One of her sons died in an accident at the tender age of 13, and another succumbed to an illness when he was just one year old. These successive tragedies left Leela and her mother as each other’s only solace and support.

The duo resided together in Kulapully, Palakkad, before moving to Cheriyapilly 12 years ago. Rugmini Amma’s demise has now left Leela alone. Rugmini Amma’s husband, Raman Nair, had also passed away earlier, leaving behind their son, Vasudevan, and daughter-in-law, Girija.
On the work front, Kulapulli Leela’s previous outing was with the comedy-drama ‘Achanoru Vazha Vechu’.
