KOLKATA: Actor Mithun Chakraborty, 73, was admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata Saturday morning following a brain stroke. Although he developed minor speech difficulty and his right hand movement was affected, he remains stable, according to Apollo Multispeciality Hospital. Chakraborty was transferred from ICU to a cabin for further care.
Namashi Chakraborty assured that his father is better now.”He has been shooting in Kolkata,” he said. The veteran actor, who was honoured with a Padma Bhushan recently, had been in Kolkata since Jan 31 to shoot a movie titled “Shashtri”, directed by Pathikrit Basu.
“Dada is playing Parimal Shastri, an astrologer. We have a 23-day schedule. On Friday, he packed up around 6pm after a shoot in Baranagar. Next morning, he complained of uneasiness. He was taken to hospital immediately,” Basu said. Multiple tests, including an MRI, have been conducted to assess his condition. It was confirmed that he suffered a “cerebrovascular accident” triggered by a disruption of blood flow to the brain.
