In a candid interview with Filmymantra Media, veteran actor Adi Irani opened up about his experience working with Salman Khan on the set of the 2001 romantic drama Chori Chori Chupke Chupke. While addressing rumors about Salman’s on-set behavior, Adi recounted a startling incident where the actor’s actions left him injured and bleeding, shedding light on Salman’s personality and their dynamic during the film’s production.

A Painful Memory from the Shoot
Adi Irani revealed, “While shooting for Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, he threw me into a glass frame. Glass pieces injured my face. It was bleeding. Bahut bura haal hua tha mera (I was in terrible condition).” The incident was severe enough that it could have derailed the film’s schedule. “The shoot would have been cancelled if I hadn’t said no. It would have been halted for one to two months, and the producers would have suffered losses, but I supported the producer,” he added, highlighting his dedication to ensuring the project stayed on track despite his injury.
When asked about Salman’s immediate reaction to the incident, Adi shared, “Jab pehle laga tha, woh toh bahar hi nikal gaya tha. No sorry, nothing, he went out. Of course, he saw the blood, lekin chala hi gaya bahar, apne room mein jaake baith gaya (When I first got injured, he stormed off. He saw the blood but he just left and went to sit in his room).” However, the story didn’t end there. Adi noted that Salman’s demeanor shifted the following day. “The next day, when I came for the shoot, he called me to his room and said, ‘Adi, I am really sorry, I can’t even look into your eyes. I am feeling so bad,’” Adi recounted, emphasizing that Salman apologized sincerely and spoke to him with kindness.

Adi Irani also addressed the long-standing perception of Salman Khan as a rowdy or arrogant figure in the industry. According to Adi, Salman’s behavior stemmed not from malice or superiority but from a desire to live life on his own terms. “If he was unwilling to do something, he simply would not do it,” Adi explained. He described Salman’s attitude as a form of “childishness” rather than arrogance, offering a nuanced take on the superstar’s larger-than-life persona.
