The Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist-Centre) will arrest former king Gyanendra for going against the Constitution of Nepal by supporting pro-monarchy protests, said a leading member of the party on Monday. Speaking to the media here, Matrika Prasad Yadav, Deputy General Secretary of the CPN-Maoist-Centre, accused Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath of supporting the pro-monarchy movement in Nepal and said the CM of U.P. should first implement his ideas in India.
“King Gyanendra will be arrested if the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist-Centre) comes to power. Protesters who call for return of monarchy in Nepal are basically going against the Nepali Constitution and, by supporting the movement, Gyanendra has extended support to anti-constitution activities,” said Mr. Yadav who is a former minister of commerce and industry of Nepal. Matrika Prasad Yadav argued that the movement to restore monarchy in Nepal is not widespread but has attracted attention as it runs counter to the democratic movement that has been running the government in Kathmandu for nearly two decades.
Mr. Yadav also pointed at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Adityanath of interfering in Nepal’s internal affairs and accused him of extending support to the pro-monarchy movement in Nepal. “UP Chief Minister wants Nepal to have Hindu Rashtra under a king. But he should try to implement his ideas in India first,” said Mr. Yadav who plays an important role in the CPN-Maoist-Centre as the in charge of the Terai plains of Nepal.
Mr. Yadav criticised the present Prime Minister K. P. Sharma Oli and said the government has become top-heavy with all decisions being taken by the PM himself which has made the Communist Party of Nepal (UML) a personality-centric organization and uprooted it from its ideological moorings. “All major political parties across the world are suffering from this personality cult syndrome and Nepal is no exception. Oli takes all decisions and the others are made to fall in line,” said Mr. Yadav.
