CHENNAI: Less than a fortnight after Madras HC questioned the continuance of minister V Senthil Balaji in the council of ministers despite his judicial custody for more than 230 days, the minister without portfolio tendered his resignation on Monday. Governor R N Ravi is likely to accept it on Tuesday.
The minister sent his resignation to the Tamil Nadu govt late in the evening, a highly-placed source confirmed to TOI.”The letter was forwarded to the governor’s office soon after receiving it from the minister, along with the recommendation of CM M K Stalin,” said the source. Since it was received late in the evening, Raj Bhavan is expected to process the file only on Tuesday.
Balaji was arrested by ED on June 14 last year in an alleged money laundering case. His bail has been denied by courts despite repeated pleas.
