The All India Dental Students Association (AIDSA) and its Surgeons Wing have raised serious concerns over the alleged growing menace of dental quackery in Andhra Pradesh, urging the government to take immediate action. As part of their nationwide “Anti-Quackery Awareness Week,” the association is actively working to combat this illegal practice, which poses a significant threat to public health.
In a statement issued by Dr. Balaswamy Palakayala, MDS, President of AIDSA (AP State), here on Wednesday (March 5, 20245), the association highlighted that unqualified and unlicensed individuals are practicing dentistry without proper education or training. These unauthorized practitioners provide substandard treatments, leading to severe health complications, violation of public trust, and damage to the credibility of the dental profession, he alleged.
The AIDSA has called for regular inspections and raids on unauthorized dental clinics to ensure that unlicensed practitioners are identified and removed from practice. It has also urged the government to take strict legal action against such individuals under the relevant laws to prevent further endangerment of public health. Additionally, the association is advocating for large-scale public awareness campaigns to educate citizens about the risks associated with receiving treatment from unqualified dentists, he observed.
Furthermore, AIDSA has emphasized the need for strong collaboration between the government and law enforcement agencies to strengthen the fight against dental quackery. The association has assured its full support in working alongside authorities to eliminate this alleged illegal practice and protect the well-being of patients.
With the rise in alleged illegal dental practices across the state, AIDSA is urging people to verify the credentials of dental practitioners before seeking treatment and report any suspicious activities to the concerned authorities.
