The lives of several passengers were saved due to the timely action of the driver and conductor of a NWKRTC bus in Belagavi district on Monday.
The driver noticed a fire in the bottom section of the Belagavi-Chikkodi bus when it was reaching Hattargi village.
He stopped the bus and alerted the conductor. The two asked all passengers to get their luggage and get off the vehicle.
No one was injured in the incident.
Officers of the Yamakanamaradi Police Station visited the spot.
