KURUKSHETRA: Speaking in his mother tongue Punjabi at a release event of a book, Haryana chief minister (CM) Manohar Lal Khattar said that all the relics and memories available in the state of the Sikh Gurus will be preserved in a grand memorial to be built near Pipli, Kurukshetra.
CM Manohar Lal was speaking on the occasion of release of a book ‘Haryana Sikhs and Khattar’ written by Prabhleen Singh, a scholar and published in English, Hindi and Punjabi languages by Information, Public Relations, Language and Culture Department of Haryana, in a hall of Kurukshetra University (KU) on Wednesday.
“All the relics and memories of Sikh Gurus available in Haryana will be preserved in the memorial to be built near Pipli, so that the future generations can be inspired by the immortal message of service of humanity of the Gurus. This museum will definitely become a tourist centre”, said CM Manohar.
The CM also advised the author and publisher to change the title of this book and it contains mentions of his caste and asked them to write ‘Manohar Lal’ in place of ‘Khattar’.
He said the book contains the information about the work done by the government to preserve the history of Sikh Gurus in the last 9.5 years besides the events organised related to Guru Nanak Dev, Guru Gobind Singh, Guru Tegh Bahadur and Baba Banda Singh Bahadur.
The CM said that a memorial is also being built in Lohgarh, Yamunanagar district, the capital of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur, the founder of the Sikh state. He said about 20 acres of land has been allotted to Lohgarh trust.
He said a memorial is also coming up in Badkhalsa village in the memory of Bhai Kushal Singh Dahiya who sacrificed his life to protect the Sis (beheaded head) of Guru Tegh Bahadur, to ensure it reaches Anandpur Sahib.
CM Manohar Lal said that there was a dispute over the management of Gurdwaras of Haryana for many years and we formed a separate Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC) for the state after pursuing the case strongly in the Supreme Court.
“It was not a political issue, but considering the situation in Punjab, a separate committee was formed so that Gurudwaras in Haryana could be managed properly. We believe that politics should be kept separate from Gurdwaras. A separate Election Commission has been constituted for the election of the HSGMC and it is expected that the election schedule will be released soon so that the elected committee can manage the Gurdwaras properly”, said Haryana CM Khattar.
The CM said that in the stories of Gurus, bravery, bravery and compassion are found.
“Merely reading history will not help, but we all have to move forward by following the paths shown by the Gurus for the betterment of the society. It is our duty to protect religion, country and society and service to humanity. We are working for the welfare of society following the path shown by the Gurus”, he said.
