Amritpal Singh, an NSA accused and a Khalistani preacher who won the Lok Sabha polls as an Independent candidate from Punjab’s Khadoor Sahib seat, is all set to float his political party on January 14.

Amritpal is currently lodged in the Dibrugarh jail of Assam under the National Security Act (NSA).

A ‘Panth Bachao, Punjab Bachao’ rally has been organised where the formal announcement will be made during the ‘Maghi Da Mela’ in Punjab’s Sri Mukstar Sahib.

Amritpal Singh Arrested Under NSA

Amritpal was arrested under the NSA on April 23, 2023, after a month-long man-hut by the Punjab Police. Last year on July 5, he was airlifted from Dibrugarh to Delhi for his oath-taking ceremony as a Lok Sabha MP.

After being appointed as the head of the Punjabi political group ‘Waris Punjab De’ in 2022, he delivered pro-Khalistani speeches and led the Ajnala police station attack in which a large number of armed individuals stormed the police station and assaulted the police officers.

In September last year, Amritpal’s father Tasrem Singh had also expressed his desire to float a new political outfit in the state.
