Laapataa Ladies has officially been selected as India’s entry for the prestigious Academy Awards 2025 in the Best International Feature Film category. The announcement, made by the Film Federation of India (FFI) earlier this week, has sparked excitement across the country. In celebration of this milestone, popular dairy brand Amul has released a new topical that creatively acknowledges the film’s accomplishment.

Amul’s Creative Tribute to Laapataa Ladies
Amul, known for its clever and topical advertisements, crafted an illustration that captures the essence of Laapataa Ladies. The illustration features the two female leads of the movie, positioned with an Oscars statue between them. In front of the leads are Amul’s signature buttered bread slices, symbolising the brand’s iconic connection to dairy products.
Adding a humorous twist, the characters are seen holding up butter and looking at each other, with the text “Never Laapataa [missing] in bread” cleverly placed above them. The brand further played with the movie’s title in the tagline at the bottom of the topical, which reads, “Amul. Ladies love it.”
Having said that, it is worth mentioning here that the rural set drama beat 29 other movies from India to enter the Oscars 2025 race. Reacting to the news, Kiran Rao, the director of Laapataa Ladies, said, “I am deeply honoured and beyond delighted that our film Laapataa Ladies has been chosen as India’s official entry to the Academy Awards. This recognition is a testament to the tireless work of my entire team, whose dedication and passion brought this story to life. Cinema has always been a powerful medium to connect hearts, transcend boundaries, and ignite meaningful conversations,” in a statement.
Presented by Jio Studios and jointly produced by Aamir Khan Productions and Kindling Productions, the film stars Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastava, and Ravi Kishan.
