‘Welcome to the Outcast’s restaurant!’ is going to have a full-fledged anime adaptation in 2025. It comes as an announcement on December 15, 2024, with the unveiling of the official website and the associated X (formerly Twitter) account together. A teaser visual carrying the main characters was put online; however, information on any members of the production and the voice cast has not been officially revealed yet. Gao, the illustrator of the light novel, and Tsunami, the artist of the manga, also shared special illustrations celebrating the announcement.
Welcome to the Outcast’s Restaurant! is based on a light novel series written by Yuki Kimikawa. It started life as a web novel on Shosetsuka ni Naro in 2018 and was later acquired by Overlap for print publication in 2019. To date, the light novel runs three volumes, with the most recent published in June 2020. The light novel has proven popular enough that it inspired a manga series; the manga began serialization on Overlap’s Comic Gardo platform in 2019. The series has received much attention since the publication of eight compiled volumes and an English version that is available through Kaiten Books, with a focus on fantasy and culinary themes.
Dennis, an ex-member of the Silver Wings Battalion, is betrayed and exiled from the guild. He abandons adventuring and cooks up a passion for opening a diner. Dennis’s diner becomes a haven for outcasts: people who have been betrayed or rejected by society. He is an ally to Atrielle, a noblewoman made into a slave. From there, he saves and befriends her and eventually runs the diner together to feed not only their bellies but also their sense of community and healing.
Among the patrons of the diner are an exiled knight, a boastful mage, and an overworked sage, all bringing their own set of challenges. Dennis’s culinary skills and resourcefulness play a significant role in maintaining harmony at his establishment.
With its fantastical adventures and heartfelt drama, the anime Welcome to the Outcast’s Restaurant!, is likely to attract audiences at the turn of the calendar page 2025. Information and casts are expected to be released in the following months.
