Apple has introduced a limited-edition award for Apple Watch users to commemorate World Mental Health Day on October 10, 2024. The company aims to promote emotional awareness and mental well-being through this initiative.
To earn the award, Apple Watch users must log at least 10 mindful minutes using any app that syncs with the Health app on iPhone, including Apple’s own Mindfulness app.The award is available only on October 10, encouraging users to prioritize their mental health on this specific day.
In addition to the award, Apple has rolled out several features to support mental well-being across its devices. The State of Mind feature allows users to log emotions and daily moods, providing insights into potential contributing factors such as sleep and exercise. Apple Watch now tracks time spent in daylight using its ambient light sensor, as studies show that 15-30 minutes of outdoor exposure can reduce stress.
The Journal app enables users to reflect on daily experiences and practice gratitude through logs, photos, videos, and audio recordings. Meanwhile, the Focus feature helps minimize distractions by creating custom settings for different tasks, improving concentration during important activities.
Apple also emphasizes that its devices can help users monitor depression and anxiety levels, with results that can be shared with healthcare providers for proper assessment.
