The Kochi Cyber Police registered a case on Wednesday night following a complaint from ‘Ajayante Randam Moshanam (ARM)’ director Jithin Laal. The director had earlier dropped a video that suggested that the film’s pirated version was surfacing online. The cyber police will be investigating the piracy of the film based on the complaint. ‘ARM’ starring Tovino Thomas hit the big screens on September 12.
On Monday, September 16, Jithin Laal dropped a video he received via a friend, in which an individual is seen watching a pirated version of ‘ARM’ on mobile phone. This incident came four days after the theatrical release of the 3D film. The director said it was ‘heartbreaking’ to watch this happen. “A friend send me this… heart breaking… vere onnum parayan ella… telegram vazhi ARM kanendavar kanatte… alathe enth parayana,” the director said in his note.

Meanwhile, producer Listin Stephen also expressed concern and said that the incident will be dealt legally. As the film crossed Rs 50 crore in the theatres, Listin said, “Thank you… so much thanks for spreading this. This is the state of a film that will enter the 50-crore club today! Watching the theatre print at home and posting on social media. After 150 days of shooting, one and a half years of post-production, and 8 years of the director-writer’s dream, along with the investment from producers and the hard work of a team of over 100 people, this is the sight you are forced to see. What more can I say other than that it’s destroying Malayalam cinema… This time will pass, too. This film needs to be seen in theatres, so please don’t ruin it like this,” he said.
