Ahead of Delhi elections less than two weeks from now, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday claimed that his vehicle was attacked in Hari Nagar by a rival candidate’s supporters and blamed Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

This accusation came after the party last week accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of pelting stones at Kejriwal’s convoy during his campaign in the New Delhi constituency.

In a post on X, the former Delhi CM alleged that the Delhi Police allowed the supporters of a rival candidate into a public event in Hari Nagar, who then proceeded to attack his vehicle. He also accused Amit Shah of making Delhi Police the “personal army of BJP”.

“Today in Hari Nagar, the police allowed the opposition candidate’s men to enter my public meeting and then attacked my car. All this is happening on the orders of Amit Shah. Amit Shah has made the Delhi Police the personal army of the BJP,” he said.

“There are big questions being raised on the Election Commission that the national president of a national party and its leaders are being constantly attacked and the poll body is unable to take any effective action,” Kejriwal further alleged.

Stone Pelting On Kejriwal’s Convoy

Earlier, the AAP shared a video of the purported attack on Kejriwal’s convoy on Saturday. “Fearing defeat, BJP panicked, got its goons to attack Arvind Kejriwal. People of BJP, Kejriwal ji is not going to be scared of your cowardly attack, the people of Delhi will give you a befitting reply.”

The ruling AAP demanded the Election Commission’s intervention for action against BJP candidate Parvesh Verma, according to sources. Meanwhile, AAP’s Priyanka Kakkar claimed threat to life to Kejriwal after the alleged attack.

Responding to the allegations, BJP’s candidate from the New Delhi seat Parvesh Verma alleged that the car of Arvind Kejriwal hit two BJP supporters, who have now been rushed to Lady Hardinge Medical College for treatment.

“The car of Arvind Kejriwal has gone ahead by crushing the workers of the BJP. The leg of the worker (BJP) has broken and I am going to the Lady Hardinge Medical College to inquire about his health. This is very shameful,” said Verma.

In the upcoming February 5 elections, the AAP aims to retain control of the national capital, while the BJP is making every effort to unseat the Kejriwal-led party, levelling accusations of corruption against it.
