Tobgay hailed Modi as a mentor and an elder brother, stating, “Every time I meet you, I am inspired to work even harder as a public servant.” He extended warm greetings from Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and underscored the deep spiritual and diplomatic ties between India and Bhutan.
Emphasising transformative initiatives like Make in India, Digital India, Startup India, and Swachh Bharat, which have propelled India’s growth, Tobgay said: “If I were to continue enumerating all your initiatives, we would be here for a long, long time.” He credited Modi’s leadership for lifting 30 crore people out of poverty and positioning India towards a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India).
In a heartfelt appeal, Tobgay sought Modi’s guidance to reform Bhutan’s public service into an enlightened, entrepreneurial bureaucracy. He also invited India’s leaders and institutions to train Bhutanese public servants under Modi’s mentorship and through the School of Ultimate Leadership (SOUL).
Highlighting Bhutan’s ambitious Ghelifu Mindfulness City (GMC) project, Tobgay described it as a beacon of sustainability and Gross National Happiness. He credited King Jigme as the inspiration behind this unique carbon-negative city and acknowledged Modi’s invaluable support. “GMC will be the legacy of two enlightened leaders, strengthening Bhutan-India relations and creating global opportunities,” he noted.
Concluding his speech, Tobgay extended an open invitation to India’s business community to invest in GMC, fostering a future where economic growth harmonizes with sustainability and spiritual well-being. “Come join us on this journey towards a purposeful and prosperous future,” he urged.
