Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday warned the country against the Opposition’s caste-based politics stating that attempts are being made to divide the society and called upon the citizens to understand the conspiracy by the “national enemies”.
The Prime Minister’s warning came amid the ongoing caste politics by the Congress-led Opposition who have demanded the government to conduct a caste census in an attempt to corner the Centre.
‘National enemies conspiring to divide society’: PM Modi
“There is a conspiracy going on to divide the society on the basis of caste, religion, language, high and low, men and women, villages and cities. It is important that we understand the seriousness of this attempt of the national enemies, understand the crisis and we all have to defeat such an act together. We have to work together,” PM Modi warned while virtually addressing a programme marking the 200th-anniversary celebrations of the Shree Swaminarayan Mandir in Vadtal.

Caste politics by Opposition
PM Modi’s remarks came in line with his recent poll campaign in Jharkhand and Maharashtra where he warned the people against divisions in the society and divisive forces behind it.
He has been highlighting in his rallies that the Opposition has been attempting to divide the people on caste lines and taking electoral advantage of the divisions.
He gave a slogan of ‘Ek Hai Toh Safe Hai‘ during his campaigning for the Assembly polls.
Notably, during the Lok Sabha Elections, the Opposition’s charge against the BJP that ‘reservation would be scrapped’ if the party returned to power at the Centre resonated among voters and hurt the saffron party badly in the general elections, the results of which were announced on June 4 this year. The BJP, which aimed to win over 400 seats in Lok Sabha, fell way short of the majority mark on its own and needed the support of pre-poll allies in the NDA to form the government.
The saffron party has since worked to counter the Opposition’s caste narrative with the unity call to the voters.
