It’s hard to forget how this 2012 gem shattered taboos and offered a fresh take on sperm donation, all while leaving us in stitches. Ayushmann Khurrana, in his debut role, won hearts with his charming yet awkward portrayal of Vicky, while Yami Gautam, as his love interest, delivered a flawless performance.
Director Shoojit Sircar shared the exciting news on Instagram, announcing its re-release on April 18, 2025, with curated shows at PVR and INOX. The re-release is also a tribute to their late friends, Jayanta Das and Akshay Verma.
The film’s producer, John Abraham, also expressed his excitement on Instagram. He wrote, “My debut film as a producer is back on the big screen this weekend–April 18th! A bold, ahead-of-its-time story with a message that still hits home. Ayushmann Khurrana and Yami Gautam launched their film careers with the trailblazing Vicky Donor in 2012. The film fearlessly addressed the taboo topics of sperm donation and infertility, all while maintaining a lighthearted and entertaining tone. Vicky Donor won three National Film Awards, including Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. Along with the lead pair, the film also featured memorable performances from Annu Kapoor, Dolly Ahluwalia, Tarun Bali, Krishna Singh Bisht, and Swaroopa Ghosh.
